Apex Academy is BIR’s premier high-performance driving school designed to build confident, capable drivers from the ground up. Through structured classroom instruction and guided on-track sessions, participants learn proper line, braking techniques, vehicle dynamics, and situational awareness in a supportive, safety-focused environment. It’s the foundation for performance driving — and the first step toward mastering the track.
Apex DE is an intermediate-level High Performance Driving Experience (HPDE) program created for drivers ready to advance beyond the fundamentals. Building on the principles of Apex Academy, this program provides expanded seat time, skill refinement, and optional one-on-one instructor coaching. Apex DE helps drivers increase consistency, precision, and confidence while continuing their performance journey in a structured setting.
Apex Reserved offers exclusive, limited-entry track access for drivers seeking maximum seat time and a premium experience. With controlled car counts and an organized, open-track format, participants enjoy greater flexibility, less traffic, and more opportunities to focus on performance. Apex Reserved is ideal for experienced drivers who want elevated track access in a professional, well-managed environment.

Before you go, all drivers should arrive early for check-in, vehicle tech inspection, and the mandatory driver meeting to ensure a smooth and safe day on track. Helmets are required, and vehicles should be in good mechanical condition with secure batteries, proper tire tread, and no fluid leaks. Please bring water, weather-appropriate gear, and anything you may need for a full day at the track. Events are held rain or shine at, and a positive, safety-first mindset is key to making the most of your Apex experience. Full length pants, closed toed shoes and helmets are required for both drivers and passengers.

A typical Apex Track Day is structured to provide maximum seat time in a safe, organized, and low-pressure environment from start to finish. The day begins with check-in, vehicle tech inspection, and a mandatory drivers meeting covering safety, flags, and track etiquette, followed by run group sessions scheduled throughout the day based on experience level (except Apex Reserved). Drivers rotate through consistent on-track sessions with breaks in between to rest, review, and prepare, while staff maintain a controlled flow on track. Depending on the program, participants may also receive classroom guidance, lead-follow sessions, or open lapping within their designated group. The result is a smooth, professional experience at Brainerd International Raceway that prioritizes safety, progression, and enjoyable, uninterrupted track time.
